Results pages cut titles and descriptions by width, not by a fixed number of characters. Type yours to see where they would be cut and how the result would look.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Notable.
How it works
- Widths are measured in your browser in Arial, the font results pages use: about 580 pixels for a title and 920 for a description on desktop.
- These are approximations. Search engines change their layouts, and they can rewrite a title or description they judge less helpful than text on the page.
- Put the words that matter first, so they survive any cut.
The background
Why pixels, not characters
A W is far wider than an i, so a title of capital letters is cut much sooner than one in lower case. A character limit can say a title fits when it does not.
What makes a good title
Name the page's subject the way people search for it, then your brand. Each page needs its own title: duplicate titles make it harder to tell your pages apart.
Descriptions and AI answers
A meta description does not change your ranking, but a clear one improves clicks, and it is a short, plain statement of what the page offers that any system reading the page can use.
